Daniel Hemric wins in Southern Super Series

A flat tire kept Daniel Hemric out of Victory Lane at Texas Motor Speedway Friday in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. He finished ninth. Undeterred, Hemric and company headed to Georgia for the Southern Series and beat Chase Elliott others to take the super late model win.

Race observers said Hemric’s battle with Elliott was one of the best late model races in recent memory.

It was Hemric’s second win in the SSS this season in seven races. He is third in the points 38 points back of leader Casey Smith. Donnie Wilson is second 35 points back.

Hemric is currently seventh in the Camping World Truck Series standing, 94 points back of Matt Crafton, the leader. The trucks race again Saturday at the Gateway Motorsports Park near St. Louis.
