Charlotte 49ers battling to make C-USA tournament

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Charlotte baseball will host UTSA in the final Conference USA series of the year, wrapping up the 2015 regular season, in hopes of qualifying for the C-USA Tournament to be held at Southern Miss next week. The Niners are one of six teams still alive for the three final berths in the annual tournament.

To get in next week, the Niners will need to take at-least two from UTSA at home this weekend and have help from other teams and their series outcomes. Close to a dozen scenarios are still to be determined based on this weekend’s Thursday-Saturday series in Conference USA. Charlotte did take two-of-three from UTSA on the road in San Antonio last year.

The complete schedule, stats and series preview are on Charlotte49ers.

Davidson battles Richmond for spot in A10 tournament

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The Davidson baseball team will cap off the regular season with its final home series against the Richmond Spiders starting Thursday at 6 p.m. at Wilson Field.

The series is crucial for both teams as it determines fate in the Atlantic 10 Championship, which begins next week at George Mason starting Wednesday, May 20. The top seven A-10 teams qualify for the Championship with the No. 1 seed receiving a bye.

A10 Assists: Davidson wins community service challenge

NEWPORT NEWS, Va.— Davidson College athletics has won the second-annual Atlantic 10 Conference Assists Challenge, completing over 19,000 hours of community service during the 2014-15 academic year. In all, student-athletes and staff at the 14 A-10 member institutions completed 71,848 community service hours, three times more than last year.

An amazing number by itself, the record-breaking hours is a fitting finish in a landmark year for the Atlantic 10 SAAC, which included increased involvement in all levels of collegiate athletic administration, heavy participation in the It’s On Us Campaign and an annual video competition that saw high participation numbers.
