Damione Lewis joins 49ers radio

Charlotte IMG has announced that Damione Lewis has been added as the color commentator for Charlotte 49ers radio broadcasts on the Charlotte IMG Radio Network.

Lewis will step into the role held by Kevin Donnalley for the first two seasons. Donnalley was recently tabbed as the 49ers Offensive Line coach for this season, following the death of assistant coach Phil Ratliff.

The Charlotte IMG Radio Network can be heard locally on the flagship station, WFNZ 610 SportsRadio.

Lewis, who played college ball at Miami, was a NFL first round draft pick of the St. Louis Rams in 2001. His 10-year NFL career included stops with the Rams, Carolina Panthers and Houston Texans.

Lewis stepped into his first action, Monday night, when he co-hosted Charlotte’s Coaches’ Show “49ers Uptown Live” from BlackFinn Ameripub in the EpiCentre. Uptown Live is aired on WFNZ’s sister station, WBCN 1660 am and includes game analysis and team breakdown with 49ers head coach Brad Lambert. Bobby Rosinski, who is the 49ers sideline reporter during game broadcasts, co-hosted the opening Uptown Live broadcast.

The full game-day crew of longtime play-by-play man Matt Swierad, Lewis and Rosinski, will be on the air, Friday, as the 49ers travel to Georgia State for the 2015 season-opener. The 2015 season will be Charlotte’s first at the FBS level as a member of Conference USA.
