Charlotte 49ers Football Adds Pair of Big Ten Series

CHARLOTTE, N.C.  — The Charlotte 49ers, who will play in their second season in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) this fall as a member of Conference USA, have announced the scheduling of a pair of series against Big Ten opponents and the completion of their 2019 non-conference slate.

Charlotte will play a home-and-home series with Maryland in 2022 and 2023.  The 49ers will also play road games at Indiana in those same seasons.  The contests against those Big Ten schools give the 49ers at least one power five conference opponent in each of the next 10 seasons with three such games scheduled at home.

Charlotte will host Maryland, Sept. 10, 2022 at Jerry Richardson Stadium and travel to College Park, Md., Sept. 9, 2023.  The home game will be the 49ers second against a power five foe.  Charlotte hosts Duke, of the ACC, Sept. 11, 2021.  The 49ers will also host the ACC’s North Carolina, Sept. 6, 2025.
The road games at Indiana will be played Oct. 1, 2022 and Sept. 23, 2023.
In addition, the 49ers have completed the 2019 non-conference slate. Charlotte will open the season at home, Aug. 31, against Gardner-Webb.  Each of the next four non-conference seasons are now complete.
The full 2016 schedule has been released and includes non-conference home games against Elon and Eastern Michigan and non-conference road games at Louisville and Temple.  The Conference USA slate includes four home games and four road games.
