CHARLOTTE – The Charlotte 49ers and Florida Gators have entered into a contract to play
a non-conference football game during the 2023 season. The game will be played
in Gainesville, Fla. on Sept. 23, 2023.
“We’re thrilled to play the Gators in one of college
football’s most iconic stadiums, The Swamp,” said Charlotte Director of
Athletics Mike Hill, who served as Executive Associate Athletics Director for
External Affairs at Florida prior to joining the 49ers. “Games like these
are tremendous experiences for our football team and our fans. I’m grateful to
(Florida AD) Scott Stricklin and (Florida Executive Associate AD) Laird Veatch
for working with us to make this game happen.”
In 2023, the 49ers have
non-conference games scheduled at Maryland, Sept. 9 and at home against Georgia
State, Sept. 16.
Game dates are subject to change.
The 49ers 2019 football season gets underway Thursday, Aug. 29
when first-year head coach Will Healy welcomes Gardner-Webb to Richardson
Stadium for a 7:30 p.m. contest. Season tickets are currently available by
