49ers to play in The Swamp

CHARLOTTE – The Charlotte 49ers and Florida Gators have entered into a contract to play a non-conference football game during the 2023 season. The game will be played in Gainesville, Fla. on Sept. 23, 2023.

“We’re thrilled to play the Gators in one of college football’s most iconic stadiums, The Swamp,” said Charlotte Director of Athletics Mike Hill, who served as Executive Associate Athletics Director for External Affairs at Florida prior to joining the 49ers. “Games like these are tremendous experiences for our football team and our fans. I’m grateful to (Florida AD) Scott Stricklin and (Florida Executive Associate AD) Laird Veatch for working with us to make this game happen.”

In 2023, the 49ers have non-conference games scheduled at Maryland, Sept. 9 and at home against Georgia State, Sept. 16.

Game dates are subject to change.

The 49ers 2019 football season gets underway Thursday, Aug. 29 when first-year head coach Will Healy welcomes Gardner-Webb to Richardson Stadium for a 7:30 p.m. contest. Season tickets are currently available by calling the athletic ticket office at 704-687-4949 or by visiting Charlotte49ers.com.
