THE SERIES
Davidson trails the all-time series 3-9 dating back to the first meeting in 1999. The ‘Cats won the first two meetings all-time including the perfect season capping win over the Hoyas in 2000, 41-17. The two last squared off in 2016, a 38-14 Georgetown win in Washington, D.C.
MILITARY APPRECIATION/FIRST RESPONDERS DAY
Calling all Military Personnel and First Responders! As a thank you for your service to our country and community, all military members and first responders will receive free entry to Richardson Stadium for Saturday’s clash with the Hoyas. Just show your ID and enjoy the game! Featured exhibits will be a truck from the Davidson Fire Department, a crusier displayed from the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Department and an information table and special guest from Continuing the Mission – a nonprofit organization that helps provide service dogs to our veterans.
PACK RICHARDSON
All 2,500 of the tickets generously donated by Steve Smith ’66 have been claimed. But do not worry, fans can still claim half price tickets for the highly anticipated season opener by using the promotion code “GOCATS” through Friday. All walk-up tickets on Saturday will be full price (starting at $7).
SCOUTING THE HOYAS
Georgetown was projected to finish third in the Patriot League Preseason Coaches Poll. Six Hoyas were named to the Preseason All-Patriot League Team, including junior linebacker Wes Bowers – a HERO Sports FCS Sophomore All-American last season. Bowers led the team with 91 tackles, fourth among all Patriot League players. Hoya senior Michael Dereus returns as the leading receiver following a 379-yard 2018 campaign – a season in which he only suited up for eight games.
LAST TIME THEY MET
The two have opened the season against each other five times prior – most recently in the 2016 opener at Cooper Field in Washington, D.C. where the Hoyas bested the ‘Cats, 38-14. Jaris Scott ’18 hauled in 149 receiving yards with a touchdown as Taylor Mitchell ’18 and Stockton McGuire combined to go 23 of 32 passing for 316 yards. Davidson trailed just 10-7 late in the first half before Georgetown poured on four straight touchdowns over the next 15 minutes of game time to put it out of reach. Tight end Hunter Louthan recorded his first career touchdown grab in the fourth frame – a 7-yard scoring catch.
