Saturday’s game will mark the 12th meeting between the ‘Cats and Hoyas. Davidson trails the all-time series 3-8 dating back to the first meeting in 1999.
The Wildcats open the season against the Hoyas of Georgetown University for the fifth time in program history when Davidson visits Cooper Field in Washington, D.C. for a 1 p.m. contest on Saturday. The Wildcats are 55-57-5 (.491) in season openers, including 16-39-2 on the road.
The Wildcats’ home opener is Sept. 17 against Livingstone.
Davidson closed the 2015 season with a win over Stetson.
Charlotte 49ers at Louisville Thursday Sept. 1
The Charlotte 49ers open their fourth season of football and second at the FBS level as a member of Conference USA, Thursday, Sept. 1 at nationally-ranked Louisville (ACC RSN; Charlotte IMG Radio Network).
Charlotte returns 15 starters (9 off; 6 def) and 10 players that have started at least 20 games over the 49ers three-year history. The 49ers went 2-10, last year, and won their first game against an FBS opponent: at bowl-bound Georgia State. This is the 49ers first game against an FBS Top 25 foe.
The 49ers roster includes 19 redshirt seniors that were part of the program’s First Class in 2012.
