Daniel Hemric wins in Georgia
A flat tire kept Daniel Hemric out of Victory Lane at Texas Motor Speedway Friday in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. He finished ninth. Undeterred, Hemric and company headed to Georgia for the Southern Series and beat Chase Elliott others to take the super late model win.
Race observers said Hemric’s battle with Elliott was one of the best late model races in recent memory.
It was Hemric’s second win in the SSS this season in seven races. He is third in the points 38 points back of leader Casey Smith. Donnie Wilson is second 35 points back.
Hemric is currently seventh in the Camping World Truck Series standing, 94 points back of Matt Crafton, the leader. The trucks race again Saturday at the Gateway Motorsports Park near St. Louis.
Bojangles’ Summer Shootout Tuesday
School gets out week for summer, but local principals will be hard at work racing their way to the front of the field as Charlotte Motor Speedway kicks off the Bojangles’ Summer Shootout with Principal School Bus Racing on the frontstretch quarter-mile Tuesday. In addition, fans will be treated to a full slate of Legend and Bandolero racing as the most competitive field of racers from across the country converge on the epicenter of motorsports.
Huffman wins in Hickory late models
Landon Huffman won Saturday at Hickory Motor Speedway, again battling with Dexter Canipe Jr. Canipe won the race last week.
