CONCORD, N.C. ) – NASCAR driver Matt Kenseth set the pole speed for this year’s Coca-Cola 600 at 194.252 mph. On Tuesday, youngsters will put their battery-powered machines to the test as they compete on Charlotte Motor Speedway’s frontstretch quarter-mile at speeds nearing a blistering five mph, as Legend Car and Bandolero drivers at the Bojangles’ Summer Shootout clear the track for children ages 4-7 to compete in the Little Luggies 600 Power Wheels race.
This single-lap event allows future Bojangles’ Summer Shootout competitors to experience the thrill of racing on the same track as their NASCAR idols. The 190-mph difference between the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series cars and the Power Wheels machines won’t matter to the screaming moms, dads, friends and family as they cheer for their favorite tiny racers in mini Mustangs, Junior Jeeps and little lawn tractors.
The Bojangles’ Summer Shootout Series gives fans the opportunity to watch the best grassroots racers in the country do battle in seven Legend Car and Bandolero divisions. The series provides the area’s most affordable family fun and excitement, plus the opportunity to see NASCAR’s future superstars.
