Back from exams

Students have completed exams and that means the high school athletes can back to playing. Tonight, Friday, Jan. 18, 485 Sports/Radio Free Cabarrus will broadcast six games (varsity boys and girls games from three sites) on the NFHS Network.

Wendell Moore Jr. could become Cabarrus County’s all-time leading scorer. He needs 22 points to catch Cannon School great Jarrel Eddy. Earlier this year the Cox Mill star passed Lavar Batts Jr. for the Cabarrus public schools record.

Other headlines from tonight’s action includes a battle for first place in the Rocky River Conference as Coach George Walker’s Mt. Pleasant Tigers host the defending 2A state champion Forest Hills Yellow Jackets, who are coached by former Concord star Matt Sides.

At Bullock Gym, it’s the battle of Kannapolis with red-hot Northwest Cabarrus coming across town to do battle with the A.L. Brown Wonders. The men from K-town started the season hot but have hit an icy patch once they got to South Piedmont Conference. The Wonders will try to rebound tonight.

No broadcasts tonight, but other games include Central Cabarrus at Concord and Hickory Ridge at East Mecklenburg.
